It happened so suddenly. No one could have predicted it. Before this event happened, being a skeptic in a subject like aliens was a good thing. After the aliens arrived, being a skeptic was a bad thing. Now there was evidence of alien's existence. Alien skeptics were treated with suspicion, mocking, and even jail time in certain states.
